Notes: As the slide seems to have been developed in June of 1965, I'd have to guess that these were New Years Eve fireworks rather than the Fourth of July. (Van)

Notes: These tasted pretty bad to me, but Mom and Dad seemed to relish them, along with the figs, which I also didn't care for. (Van)

Notes: A lizard native to the Houston area and usually called a chamelion because it, too, changed color. This one's perched on our air conditioner. Much of my youth was involoved in catching and raising these lovely, speedy, biting lizards. (Van) One of the kids had a big chamelion cage where they actually managed to reproduce.

Notes: A kid who lived at or next to the Sea Gun hotel had a pet porpose in a pen. I was entranced. This was years before Flipper was on T.V.; I'd never heard of a pet porpose before. (Van)

Notes: Me at the water's edge at the Sea Gun. You could fish 50 feet from your door. The fish were strange, I caught a lot of small puffer fish and some Toad or Rock fish, which turn out to be rediculously poisionous (which I didn't know at the time.) (Van)

Notes: There's no annotation, but I beleive this was the Pecos River from a high bridge, before they dammed it up and made a huge recreational lake out of it. (Van) Yup, this is the crossing just to the east of Pacos. Lake Amistad is now backed up into it and the canyon is only half as deep.

Notes: At Judge Roy Bean's place, on our way to Big Bend. Mom or Dad found a diamond ring in the sand and turned it in, but they wouldn't take our name in case noone claimed it. I'm sure it was claimed real quick-like. (Van) Well, that's justice, WEST OF THE PECOS!
