This is my father's slide collection of 734 slides, which has been stored in my brother's closet in Austin for a number of years. I hadn't seen many of these images for at least a quarter of a century. I hope publishing them in this manner makes the collection available to many more people than would have had a chance to see it otherwise.
Chuck sent me half of the slides (to guard against a postal tragedy wiping us out in a single stroke) and I purchased a Nikon CoolScan LS-2000 to do the job. After a few weeks I put the project on hold because summers are short and precious in the North West. I ordered an SF-200 bulk slide feeder for the CoolScan, which took months to arrive.
Finally the project got underway again in mid October. We used an htm web application coupled with SQL Server 7 to collect descriptions of each slide from various locations. Finally, the dynamic pages were dumped to static HTML to improve performance.
Work on the second half of the collection just finished (July 2001.) Now you can view the entire collection with full comments by clicking on any of these links:

"Annotations" are the notes actually written on the slides. If you mail comments about a slide to me please include the slide name, which appears on the first line to the right of the slide. The order and number of slides on a page may change, but this name will not.
Currently the order is roughly based on the order in which the slides appeared in storage, except that I've partitioned them by year. There are clearly some related slides in separate groups; we'll deal with this in the future.
